In March of last year, my best friend and I, gave a teaching on Kingdom Culture. We discussed ethnic and cultural awareness but also the big picture of the Heart of God for His people when it comes Family.
I believe the Holy Spirit wants us to be aware that the Kingdom we are seeking, the one that is coming, and the one that's already here, may be foreign to us because of our own biases and preferences. Not only when it comes to racial diversity and integration but also in values and morality. You cannot allow where you grew up and your family preferences to dictate your understanding of morality, worship, and things like holidays and Christian traditions. Do they align with scripture? What is your understanding of Hebrew Culture and traditions? Because that will determine your understanding of scripture. It's all connected and breaking away from man-made religion is the first step to grasping Kingdom truth.
When, for a season, I stepped out of the traditional Sunday church routine, it has been amazing, enlightening and liberating. For many, many, years I got to enjoy the routine of going before the Father Sunday mornings, worshipping Him and hearing Rhema word (or sometimes not really Rhema, just saying). I've also experienced, the routine of church that hinders the Holy Spirit and therefore stifflies true salvation and transformation in the people of God. That's why you can have someone who looks the part of a Christian but has a pitiful love walk. I have endured the "business" of church growth, the politics, and preaching that was, at times, based more on denominational dogma, than actually Logos Word. The kind of preaching that drains you, instead of fills you up.
This is the time of year we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I prefer to remember also, why He came. He sacrificed Himself for more than my salvation from hell, He came to liberate me from man-made religion. Me, you, and everyone. When reflecting on this I can't help but become saddened by the excess of man-made religion that is all around me. We have all been affected by it rather we know it or not. I think the Almighty longs for the day when His people will choose truth, over tradition.
For the past few years I have slowed down my walk with God. What I mean is, I'm strolling with Him, taking it all in, asking questions, meditating, pondering, and my eyes have been opened. For example, I've been noticing the response of my friends to the idea that God is interested in what we are interested in. That He sees our hearts to promote Kingdom in all that we do. I am His precious little girl, His ambassador, His queen and priestess...whether I am cooking healthy food or pole dancing. I tell fellow believers, He is with me and inspires me in each of those pursuits...sometimes I get an awkward laugh, sometimes I get further inquiry, which is the better response. You see, you can tell a lot about a person by how they respond to what it is they do not fully understand. As I stated in my teaching, we all have a tendency to fear what we do not understand. However, none of us, no matter how long you have been saved, fully comprehend the Kingdom of God and His purposes. So if we are not careful, we will unintentionally reject the very Kingdom we long to see here on earth.
A person's response to your pursuit of business, acting, modeling, and even music will tell you if they are driven by the boundless Spirit of God or religion. Are they focused on your heart or preconceived categories? Is being led by the Spirit only for those in Full-Time Ministry?Yeshua wasn’t concerned about whether the house you built was stone, brick, clay, wood or whatever...nope, He only cared about the foundation. Remember:
Luke 6:47-48 (KJV)
Believe me, 12 years ago, I would have frowned at a Christian modeling for Jesus, or singing music that is not labeled "Christian" or "gospel" or trying to pursue any career in entertainment or sports. Now my whole perception has changed. Why? Because I've encountered a glimpse of Kingdom Culture. Culture is about beliefs and values that shape human creativity and even intellect.
Ironically, many American Christians complain about the shows on TV or the latest Pop song, yet refuse to step in those arenas and bring the power of God. I'm not talking about partnering with Luciferian power holders, that's just stupid. I'm talking about relying on God for the resources and influence you need to make the impact you were born to make. This can come in the most unexpected ways. All I'm really talking about His purpose for your life and how that may look different with each person but what's important is one thing...it promotes the King and the Kingdom.
I'm starting to see that we hide our fears and unbelief in the power of Jesus behind 3 premises: holiness, purity, and traditional church ministerial endeavors (i.e. missionary work, worship leader, pastor, etc). Ask yourself, what are the beliefs and values of the Kingdom? What conversation is happening in Heaven right now? Your first thoughts will help you better understand your own perception. How different would our world look if creative people walked in full faith and redemption through Yeshua our Messiah? How good would it feel listening to that song with the awesome beat that also had enlightened and spiritually rich lyrics that honored Heaven? Imagine living in a world like that. But most Christians would rather just complain about the world and hide behind church and wait for the rapture that's not coming in their lifetime.
In our own man-made attempts to be strong, we have made ourselves weak. I remember the night I was going out to celebrate with a friend for her birthday. Before heading over to the nightclub, I went into my secret place and I prayed. I prayed for the people there, I prayed for my friends, I prayed with 100% confidence that when I walked up in there, I brought the Kingdom of God with me. Oh. Yes. I. Did. Guess what? That night was...So. Much. Fun. Three different people came up to me and said "there is just something about you", one woman said "your joy makes me feel happy, you light up this place!" NO LIE! I was a bit surprised because I still struggle with understanding all this, but to me that was not about approval or disapproval of where I was, it was confirmation from Jesus to me: "Desiree, YOU ARE MINE. Together there is no atmosphere We cannot shift, I AM the Resurrection, I AM the way, the truth, and the life, I have overcome this world, I am bigger and badder than any demon in hell. As long as you are with ME 100%, I AM with you 100%."
